From time to time you might need to block specific third parties from accessing your sites. There are a number of automatic bots that crawl the Internet, for example, and create fake visits and traffic. In addition, there are spammers that leave links to suspicious websites as comments to website articles. Such things may significantly undermine your hard work, as nobody likes to visit a website with many hundreds of fake comments, not to mention that the increased traffic from both spammers and bots could create high load on the server in which your site is hosted, that can result in the site not functioning properly. One of the best solutions in such a case is to block the IPs that produce the fake traffic, as a way to be sure that the visits to your site are legitimate.

IP Blocking in Hosting

If you have a hosting account with us and you want to block one or a number of IP addresses, you can use the IP Blocking tool, that is included in our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. Through a pretty simple interface, you could stop any IP from accessing your content even if you have never had a web hosting account before. All it requires to do this is to log within to your CP, to navigate to the IP Blocking section, to choose a certain domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to enter the IP address. You'll not need to do anything challenging if you would like to block a whole network - you will just need to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot will block the full range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed inside the same exact section, so you'll be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with only a mouse click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our semi-dedicated server accounts include a very simple-to-use IP blocking tool, that'll permit you to restrict individual IPs or even entire networks from accessing your websites with no more thana couple of clicks and you will not have any difficulties to do that even if this is your first web hosting account. As soon as you check out the IP Blocking section of the Hepsia CP, you'll only have to choose the domain or subdomain in question from a drop-down list, then type in the IP address in a box that you'll see there and you will be all set. To restrict the access for an entire network, you need to leave one or more octets blank. For example, if you type 123.123. and do not type anything in the third and fourth positions, our server shall deny requests from all IP addresses between 123.123.1.1 and 123.123.255.255.
